Robert William Fleet was born in Isleham in 1891 (Newmarket Q3-1891 3B:617), the son of William and Naomi FLEET (née RADFORD).

1901 census...Aged [9], he was at West Street,Isleham with his father William [32] a groom/cattleman, born Isleham; his mother Naomi[32] born in Freckenham, sister Gertrude[7] and brother Ernest [2], both born in Isleham.

1911 census...Aged 19, a farm labourer, he was at Blacksmith's Yard, West Street, Isleham, with his parents and brother Ernest.

The pension card has the family home still in West Street


Little is known of his Army record, Dying in Etaples after the Armistice means "Soldiers Died" has not recorded him, and his Army records have not been found. It is likely his death was a result of the flu pandemic, but may have been due to wounds, there is currently no way of telling.
